Mostly because they don't want their children to be brainwashed in China, or they want the kids to receive top notch English education. There was also a policy of reducing the number of university placed in Mainland due to over supply of graduates. Hence Chinese parents are sending Chinese kids to Singapore, HK, Thailand and other countries. Some are good, and are able to enter Singapore's education system. Mostly go to so called international schools, but they are really not international because most of the students enrolled are Chinese students... so much for calling it International. They don't interact with Singaporeans keeping to themselves. They should be thankful to the countries that allow them to be educate in a safe, highly efficient and organised society amd we tolerate them.
