中國要求加拿大承認台灣是中國的領土。加拿大外交部提出五點理由反駁：
China demands that Canada recognize Taiwan as part of China.
Canada’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded with five counter-arguments:
(一)台灣並非加拿大所擁有之領土，所以加拿大沒有權利承認台灣主權歸屬於誰。如果是加拿大所擁有的北極圈諸小島與中國有爭議，加拿大才有權利承認其歸屬。這是從羅馬法以來的所有權法理。國際法當然也依此原則適用。
(二)沒有任何國際法理論使加拿大有「權利」承認、或有「義務」承認與它無任何關係的台灣的主權歸屬。中國要求加拿大做這種承認毫無道理。
(三)即使加拿大承認台灣是中華人民共和國一部分，實際上並無任何法律效果或意義。因為加拿大國民、飛機、船舶要進入台灣，拿北京政權所發簽證根本無效，還是要向台灣當局申請簽證。承認其對台灣實效統治，這等於是立刻又以具體行為否認台灣是中國的一部分。
(四)加拿大若在國際條約中承認台灣是中華人民共和國的一部分，依條約必須履行原理，加拿大勢必派兵攻占台灣，負責把台灣交給中國以履行條約。這是多麼荒謬的一件事。
(五)台灣如果的確屬於中華人民共和國，則北京政權何必要求各國承認。例如，海南島是中國領土不可分割的一部分，中國本不必要求他國承認。反之，台灣若非中國領土，中國即使到處去要求他國承認，實際上也沒有國際法效果。如果台灣是有紛爭的領土，中國也應該去找與該領土有關的當事國交涉及承認才有國際法效果。強迫無關的第三國承認是毫無意義。

翻開中共的百年歷史，從一開始它就是靠殺人起家的，殺人是中共奪取政權最重要的手段。僅在1927年到1936年所謂第一次國共內戰時期，中共盤踞的江西一地人口就從二千多萬下降到一千多萬，他們中許多人便是中共的刀下鬼。當年，中共廣東「農運大王」彭湃曾厲聲疾呼：「把反動派和土豪劣紳殺得乾乾淨淨，讓他們的鮮血染紅海港，染紅每一個人的衣裳！」他效法明末張獻忠發布「七殺令」，下達每一個蘇維埃代表殺20個人的指標。海陸豐暴動後有一萬數千人被殺，甚至出現吃人肉、吃心肝的現象。燒殺之慘烈，令人心驚膽顫。
奪取政權後，中共的殺人本性絲毫未變。正如《九評共產黨》所指出的那樣，「建政後，它採取『殺地主』的辦法解決農村的生產關係；『殺資產階級』完成工商改造，解決城市的生產關係。這兩個階級殺完，經濟基礎的問題就基本解決了。上層建築的問題也要靠殺人來解決，包括鎮壓『胡風反黨集團』和『反右』以整肅知識分子；『殺會道門』解決宗教問題；『文革殺人』解決文化上和政治上黨的絕對領導權問題；『六四』殺人逃避政治危機，解決民主訴求問題；『迫害法輪功』解決信仰和健身運動的問題等等。」據專家估算，從1949年至今，被中共迫害致死的國人在6千萬至8千萬人左右，差不多占全國人口的十分之一，大大超過了之前近三十年的戰爭時期，也超過了兩次世界大戰死亡人數的總和，是希特勒納粹所屠殺的猶太人總數的13倍。
文革是中共歷史上最黑暗的時期，此時的殺人，在很大程度上成了一種展示「革命性」的表演，其野蠻和瘋狂可以說到了極至。根據中共自己公布的調查數據，文革期間全國共有172萬8千餘人非正常死亡，13萬5千餘人被以現行反革命罪判處死刑，武鬥中死亡23萬7千餘人。而專家根據中國縣誌記載的統計，文化大革命中非正常死亡者至少達773萬人。如1967年8月13日到10月7日，湖南道縣人民武裝部的基層民兵屠殺「湘江風雷」組織成員及黑五類，歷時66天涉及10個區，36個公社，468個大隊，2778戶，共4519人。全地區10個縣共死9093人，其中「地富反壞」占38%，地富子女占44%。被殺人中，年紀最大的78歲，最小的才10天。在1968年初內蒙古清查「內人黨」，製造了35萬餘人被殺的血案。1968年在廣西，有數萬人參與了對「四·二二」群眾團體的武裝大屠殺，死人11萬。
文革結束後，中共搞起了「改革開放」，善良的中國民眾以為中共再不也會像以前那樣泛殺無辜了。誰知1989年的「六四」血案中，中共竟在光天化日之下公開使用國際上禁用的開花彈射殺愛國學生和市民，並用坦克將他們中的一些人壓成了肉醬，創下了掌權以來公開殺人的新紀錄。
十年之後，江澤民又一次大開殺戒，把屠刀揮向了信仰「真善忍」的法輪功學員。僅到2002年年底，大陸的內部消息即指有超過7000名法輪功學員在各地拘留所、勞教所、監獄和精神病院被折磨致死，平均一天虐殺7個人。
